THE OFFICIAL HIGH SCHOOL BBQ VOCABULARY

Barbecue is more than food.

It’s a skill, a discipline, and a competitive craft.

Just like every sport, High School BBQ has its own language — the words competitors use to describe skill, fire control, competition, and pit mastery.

Welcome to the Official High School BBQ Vocabulary.

This is the language used by student pit masters across the country as they develop their skills through competition, live-fire cooking, and the pursuit of excellence.

High School BBQ is a school sport.
