The National High School BBQ Association® (NHSBBQA®) partners with schools and districts through a licensed educational participation model designed to support student learning, safety, and local control.
Schools participate as part of a nationally governed educational ecosystem while maintaining full authority over curriculum, staffing, and student involvement.
Schools and districts participate through approval to operate an NHSBBQA® program under national educational standards.
Participation provides:
Access to approved curriculum and instructional resources
Participation in structured educational programs and events
Use of nationally recognized branding
Clear safety, supervision, and program standards
Authorization to participate is conditional on meeting published educational and safety requirements.
Participation in NHSBBQA® programs:
Is not a franchise or business opportunity
Does not transfer ownership of any trademark
Does not require exclusivity
Does not create a commercial or for-profit relationship
Schools participate through an educational license, a common model used by national academic and youth organizations to ensure consistency, safety, and accountability.
Schools and districts retain full authority over:
Curriculum decisions
Instructional methods
Staffing and supervision
Budgeting and funding sources
Student eligibility and participation
NHSBBQA® establishes national standards and oversight, not operational control of schools.
All participating schools agree to operate programs that:
Are supervised by approved educators or adult leaders
Follow age-appropriate safety and activity guidelines
Align with district, campus, and state student-safety policies
Comply with NHSBBQA® program and curriculum standards
Programs that do not meet safety or educational requirements are not authorized to operate under NHSBBQA® standards.
The NHSBBQA® participation framework is designed to align with:
Career & Technical Education (CTE) programs
Perkins and other public-education funding structures
District approval and procurement processes
Participation does not require schools to assume financial risk or commercial obligations.
State-specific compliance language is provided directly to schools during onboarding.
“Our school participates in a nationally governed educational program while maintaining full local control over instruction, staffing, and student participation.”
We welcome administrative and legal review.
