National High School BBQ Association, Inc. (NHSBBQA) chartered associations, programs, and events are one of the most valuable assets in providing resources and leadership to help local BBQ clubs and school districts. High School BBQ Charters can be used by educators to incorporate our High School BBQ program into your District, School, Club, Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO), CTE Center, or After School Program. Examples would be Skills USA, FFA, FCCLA, 4-H, DECA, C-CAP, Home Economics, ProStart, Business Professionals of America, Special Education, Educators Rising. Food or Meat Science, Agriculture, Culinary Arts, Foods, Butchery, At-Risk Programs, Welding, Fabrication, and many more educational options. While the National High School BBQ Association provides guidelines for its comprehensive learning program, chartered associations and schools administer National High School BBQ Association Inc. learning programs, events, and offer additional programs that address specific educational needs of their students, campuses, Districts, and school clubs within the guidelines of our rules and Association for competition.

NHSBBQA Charters are agreements. It is an agreement by the Education Administrative Unit with  National High School BBQ Association on the proper use of the NHSBBQA and its State High School BBQ Associations Name and Emblem. And it is an agreement by the entity with the National High School BBQ Association to follow and abide by all state and local NHSBBQA policies, procedures, and other requirements. NHSBBQA Charters are agreements within the context of the overall NHSBBQA Program. NHSBBQA Charters do not qualify a  BBQ Club or team as a legal entity according to state government and business policies and definitions. NHSBBQA Charters do not allow a recognized NHSBBQA AEU, School, Club or team to share their rights and privileges, like the use of the NHSBBQA Name(s) and Emblem(s), with any other person, group, or business without prior written consent from the National High School BBQ Association, Inc.. A NHSBBQA Charter is required for any BBQ Club  or team to use the NHSBBQA or State High School BBQ Association Name(s) and Emblem(s) and compete in our events.

By registering your Education Administrative Unit as a Charter Licensee the advisor administers the operations of the chartered association and state events, contest, school clubs or teams, class competitions, and championships. State High School BBQ Association charters are held by Education Administrative Units  such as state education departments, School Districts/Counties, Parishes, Charters, Faith Based, Colleges and Universities, or an educational focused non-profit corporation

What is an Administrative Educational Unit (AEU)?

The governing local body and municipality supervising the teachers and students in an academic school year. Examples: School District, County, Education Service Centers, Parish System, Unified School District, Regional School Units, LEA (Local Education Agency), Charter System, Faith Based Entity, Supervisory Unions.

What is the responsibility of the Administrative Educational Unit Charter holder?

As the Charter license holder for your Administrative Unit your responsibilities are similar to a Principal, CTE Director, or Superintendent verifying and approving your School's and teams participation in our events representing your AEU. The AEU email of record will receive emails for transparency and to be the  stakeholder in the AEU to manage teachers, access, registration, and payment so they adhere to your local AEU policies, procedures, and  code of conduct. This can 100 percent be delegating to the Teacher(s) or Coach of record  designated by whoever registers the  Charter very similar to school Athletic Directors managing different sporting teams. Once the Charter has been established and the Schools and Teachers of Record have been assigned in our BBQ Dashboard you can officially sit back and COME EAT THEIR HOMEWORK and your work is done other than figuring out where to put the trophies, banners, and awards your teams may receive.  We like to call it Food Sport! Welcome to our High School BBQ Family!

Different states in the U.S. use various terms and classifications for their school districts or educational administrative units. Here are some common terms and classifications used across different states to see across the country:

School Districts: This is the most common term used across many states. School districts typically cover multiple schools within a specific geographic area.

County School Systems: In some states, especially in the southern U.S., schools are organized by county. Examples include Georgia, Florida, and Maryland.

Unified School Districts: These districts serve all grade levels (K-12) and are common in states like California and Kansas.

Independent School Districts: Common in Texas, these districts operate independently of any county or municipal government.

Regional School Units: Used in states like Maine, these units combine multiple towns or smaller districts into a single administrative unit.

Local Education Agencies (LEAs): This term is used in federal contexts and some state contexts to refer to public authorities legally constituted to provide control or direction of public elementary or secondary schools.

Parish School Systems: Used in Louisiana, where administrative divisions are referred to as parishes rather than counties.

Supervisory Unions: Found in Vermont, these unions serve multiple school districts under one administrative body.

Education Service Centers: These are regional bodies that provide support and services to multiple school districts, found in states like Ohio and Texas.

Intermediate School Districts: Used in Michigan, these districts provide specialized services to local school districts within a geographic area.

Charter School Networks: In some states, groups of charter schools are managed by a single organization or network, rather than a traditional district.

Special Administrative Regions: In some large cities like New York City, schools are organized into special regions or districts within the city.

Union High School Districts: Found in states like Arizona, these districts typically serve only high school students from multiple elementary school districts.

Examples by State

California: Uses Unified School Districts, Elementary School Districts, and High School Districts. Florida: Uses County School Systems.

New York: Uses Central School Districts and City School Districts.

Texas: Uses Independent School Districts and Consolidated Independent School Districts. Illinois: Uses Community Unit School Districts, Elementary School Districts, and High School Districts.

Georgia: Uses County School Systems.

Ohio: Uses Local School Districts, City School Districts, and Exempted Village School Districts. Pennsylvania: Uses School Districts, including Special School Districts for certain types of schools.

Each state may have unique classifications and organizational structures for their educational systems, reflecting local governance, historical development, and legislative decisions.
